Our Journey
Meera Center for Music Therapy, Education & Research was instituted under the income service act, section 80 G, in 2006, with the sole intention of making music therapy an integral part of treatment and rehabilitation in medical, psychiatric and social settings in India.
1977
It all started in 1977, when two stalwarts in Indian Classical Music Vidushi Dr. Meenakshi Ravi and Vidwan Dr. N G Ravi began their activities in music by aiding the music schools that train their students in the field of Carnatic music, devotional music (vocal) and mrudangam with their experience & expertise.
2000
In 2000, Meenakshi Ravi reflected to blend both fields of knowledge and practical experience (i.e., music and mental health) that gave an inception to set up Sri Purandaradasa Carnatic Sangeeta Vishva Gurukula with the main objective of exploring carnatic music in four dimensions of Holistic Health.
2015
In 2015, the Trust expanded its horizon to help people in Hyderabad explore the benefits of music therapy through Nadamaya centre. The trust is now awaiting to get registered under FCRA.
